Members of Girl Scout Troop 292 from St. Patrick’s areworking toward a Bronze Award for their community service. The troop recently adopted a family for Christmas, raising money through a bake sale at school.
Some of the best memories for boys graduating from St. Patrick School come from the Eighth Grade Friday Football games. On Friday, November 30th, St. Patrick’s held its First Annual Friday Football Reunion for young men in 9th to 12th grade. The evening included a football game, pizza, and the presentation of a commemorative patch to all those in attendance.

Frank Nealon receives an Honorary Life Membership Card and a lapel pin after having been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 50 years. Presenting the award were Tom Keane, Grand Knight and Joseph Benedetto, District Deputy of the 9th NY District.

Volunteers from St. Patrick Parish Outreach have been busy preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Seventy-five Thanksgiving baskets were prepared for families in need in our area containing all the makings of a Thanksgiving dinner.

Participants in this year’s Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program participated in the Rite of Welcome at the 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday, November 18th, 2007. The rite marks the end of the candidates’ Period of Inquiry and the beginning of the Catechumenate, a period of delving more deeply into scripture and Church teaching.

On Saturday, November 17th at the 9 AM Mass, the Knights of Columbus had a memorial Mass for members who passed away in the last year. Fifty-five council members and many family members of the deceased were in attendance. Following the Mass, the council had breakfast at Country Kitchen.

Initial plans for our new church called for landscaping on the outside perimeter. Those plans were fulfilled last weekend as shrubs were planted, enhancing the beauty of our church.

St. Patrick’s Religious Formation program kicked off Religious Education Week, a diocese-wide celebration, on Saturday, November 10th at the 5 PM Mass. The week featured many special activities.

Fr. Fred Hill celebrated the 40th anniversary of his priesthood last weekend. For the past 27 years, Fr. Fred has served as chaplain at St. Catherine’s Hospital and Nursing Home. Though not assigned to our parish, he has become a fixture at St. Patrick’s--celebrating Mass, hearing confessions, and presiding over the annual Blessing of the Animals. Fr. Fred is also known for his delicious jams, decorative crafts and gardening skills, as well as for the annual Holiday for Children Dinner Dance through which he raises tens of thousands of dollars for needy children in our area.

Catholic Daughters would like to thank all those who supported their recent Halloween Bake Sale. The bake sale was held in the Church Lobby after Mass on Sunday, November 4th, 2007. The money will go toward the many good causes supported by the CDA! Thank you!
